Laptop is XP, second PC is Vista. It has no problem recognizing (sp)the laptop and the air link KVM hot keys work fine as well. I have a laptop from work and wanted to connect it to my PS-2 style KVM switch. Well worth the small change it costs.
I plugged it in, windows 7 installed the driver, and it works - every time, all the time. Great price too.
YEA. I bought a cheap adapter at Fry's that didn't work, so I was about to spend $100+ on a new keyboard & mouse, but I decided to try this instead. The computer detected my keyboard and started working immediately. I have a Microsoft Wireless Desktop Elite with the old type of input. My new computer, of course, only has usb. It worked.
If you do things that require pressing key combinations (especially games) then I recommend you find a better converter. Otherwise, it generally works fine, but it is disappointing that it introduces flaws to the keyboard. Occasionally the device resets the keyboard as well. Sometimes it doesn't register the new key press, and sometimes it pulses it very slowly as if you keep pressing it over and over, but are not holding them down. This converter works fine if you don't do anything that requires pressing combinations of keys beyond the basic. I'm not sure if there is something special about my setup, since I haven't seen other people commenting on this. When you start doing things like 3 keys at once, or 2 keys where you switch one while holding down the other this device gets very unreliable. This makes the lights flash and then go out for the lock indicators, but doesn't otherwise seem to cause problems.
My wireless mouse and keyboard are about 5 years old and they both work great. I purchased this adapter and plugged it into the USB port on the back of my new computer which is running Windows 7, it found them when I booted the computer and they both worked perfectly without installing any drivers or software. I would recommend this adapter for purchase. I purchased this product because my new computer has USB ports for the mouse and keyboard. I liked my old Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse so much I wanted to use them with my new computer. I would not recommend this adapter if you are planning on using the mouse to game with because sometimes it lags a little bit, but since I am not using it to game with it is perfect for my use.
